The Paruk group of companies has signed a letter of intent to buy 100 made-in-South Africa MAN Lion’s Explorer E electric buses.

The Paruk group is linked to Stabus and Gauteng Coaches.

MAN Truck & Bus South Africa (MTBSA) has a carbon-neutral assembly plant in Pinetown, eThekwini, where it can now produce its new electric bus, first tested locally in 2023.

MTBSA is the local arm of the German MAN group.

“At MAN, we recognise the immense responsibility we have in shaping sustainable mobility solutions,” says MTBSA MD Jan Aichinger.

“The Lion’s Explorer E is a testament to our commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship.

“The Paruk Group’s decision to invest in zero-emission transport reinforces the private sector’s vital role in accelerating South Africa’s green transition.”
